Welcome to the first part in a new Sweet & Spicy series; ‘Community Spotlight’! In this series, we’ll interview otome content creators and showcase some of their work to help spread the word about talented, creative people in our community!
To kick things off, we sat down with Ianaro – a writer specialising in spicy, NSFW fiction – to understand the writing process behind their work, and what it’s like to be an aromantic, asexual person who writes romantic, sexy stories.
We’ll start with an interview, then give some samples of their writing, before leaving you with recommendations on where to find more…

Interview
How would you describe the kind of writing that you do?
I can describe my writing simply—it’s sexy writing of an otome/joseimuke/yumejoshi nature. I write NSFW sex scenes mainly featuring characters from otome & joseimuke games, & specialize in x Reader works, so can easily serve the needs of yumejoshis & self-shippers (I’m a yumejoshi myself by the way!).
What inspired you to start making ‘sexy writing of an otome/joseimuke/yumejoshi nature’?
I’ve been writing SFW fic under a different account for over a year, though I’ve been playing otome & joseimuke games for much longer than that. I’ve written a lot of SFW fic as well—over 100,000 words. One night, I couldn’t sleep, mainly due to some things that had happened in my life that day. I wanted to escape.
So, even though I’d never done anything like this before in my life, I decided to write an x Reader NSFW scene featuring a character from an otome game. In the morning, I showed the story to someone I trusted for feedback, & thanks to their help, I decided to expand upon my works further, write more, &, eventually, become Ianaro.
Are there any games, characters, or topics you prefer to write about?
Dom/sub is my favorite dynamic to explore for sure. It’s interesting to see how power can play a role in the bedroom, & how a consensual giving up of control can come into play during sex. I stumbled into dom/sub quite by accident actually, but after I did, I loved it.
First times are also SO FUN to write about. I love them; writing characters that are obviously sexually inexperienced getting it on is just incredible. Maybe this also ties into dom/sub because if the character is inexperienced, then the reader has to take the lead. Regardless, I love it.
As for characters I like to write about, I have my favorites—Saint-Germain from Code Realize, Takeru from Collar x Malice, Mikado Sekimura from B-Project, Shiraishi from Collar x Malice. But honestly writing about any character (over 18 of course; I don’t write about minors) from a SFW otome or joseimuke game, & exploring how they’d act during sex, is pure joy for me.
Can you describe your writing process?
I usually start with an idea—something narrative driven that can help set up the scene. I rarely start with the sex act itself—I’m very focused on narrative, so setting up that story is key for me. For example, for my (Code Realize) Lupin x Reader (Detective) fic, I started out with some sexy banter between the two.
I’ve published 3 different versions of that WIP for Patreon, & I still haven’t written the part where they actually bang it out. It’s all setup, beginning, ending, foreplay, etc. There’s one little comment where the Reader remarks that Lupin is “surprisingly shy in bed”, but that’s as much sex as I’ve written so far.
I’m very focused on story. I don’t just want 2 characters to have sex; I want there to be a reason for them to have sex; I want there to be chemistry between them. I love otome games, after all—I greatly enjoy romantic stories & story-driven elements, so that’s likely influenced my writing, at least a little.
From there, I flesh out the scene, add more details—including the actual, you know, sex—until I’m satisfied with what I’ve written. I try to make each story at least 500 words to satisfy my audience. Some stories are longer—a lot longer—but 500 words is the minimum.
Which is your favourite otome game and why? (Hard question, I know, sorry!)
Favorite otome has to be Collar x Malice. It’s the game that got me back into otomes after YEARS of not playing them, so it’s an automatic favorite for me. Love Shiraishi’s route especially, but all the boys are good. Sasazuka especially would be the perfect dom & sir I see you.

Ianaro is a pseudonym, of course. Here’s what I’ll tell you—it might be a mix of my favorite vocaloid, IA, & a vocaloid artist I like a lot, Neru. Or, it might not. Who knows?
Finally, I’m asexual, aromantic, & a virgin. And if I go my entire life without ever having sex, that’s 100% fine with me. Granted, if I find the right partner, it’s possible, but that’s a big if. What’s important to understand is that I write the works I do because I’m interested in exploring different scenarios with fictional characters. Things in real life would be…very different. And that’s fine! It’s ok to explore your sexuality & fantasies in fiction & have no intention of doing anything in reality. That’s 100% valid & 100% my experience.
